About ERA.Net RUS Plus

Cooperation in innovation, research and development is a key dimension in the relations between the European Union and Russia. In this context the 28 consortium members of ERA.Net RUS Plus have implemented a Single Joint Call for transnational and scientifically excellent research projects in the fields of Nanotechnologies/Materials/Production Technologies, Health, Environment/Climate Change, Social Sciences/Humanities and Innovation between 2014-2016. The national financial contributions of the partners to the first ERA.Net RUS Plus Call (2014-2016) sum up to approximately EUR 17 million.
Based on this success funding organisations in Russia, European Members States and countries associated to Horizon 2020 have decided to implement a second call round. Proposals can be submitted for projects in Nanotechnologies, Health, Environment/Climate Change, Social Sciences & Humanities, Robotics and Innovation.

With its two call lines 'S&T' and 'Innovation', the ERA.Net RUS Plus Call 2017 will constitute another step in the development of an instrumental setting for joint funding activities and a solid basis for a joint programmatic approach between Russia and the EU MS/AC to be pursued further in the future.

  • Project Objectives

The major objective of ERA.Net RUS Plus is to deepen the transnational collaboration between EU MS/AC and Russia and to reduce the fragmentation of research programmes along national funding lines. This joint undertaking will create synergies and strengthen the cooperation among the consortium members.

  • Project Structure

The ERA.Net RUS Plus initiative defined four Work Packages (WPs) to organise its activities. Each of these WPs is supervised by a Work Package leader from the ERA.Net RUS Plus consortium and all partners contribute to a set number of Tasks within the Work Packages.

  • The ERA-NET Scheme

The objective of the ERA-NET scheme, which was launched in 2002 under the European Commission's  6th Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP6), is to enhance coordination of national or regional research programmes in the Member States and Associated Countries. The scheme has significantly contributed to structuring the European Research Area by favouring actions jointly supported by several Member States/Associated Countries and the Commission (such as joint calls, joint programmes, etc.).
